Ruby-throated Hummingbird (female) Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Fe)

Size - 3 - 3 3/4 inches long
Habitat - Deciduous woodlands, orchards, and suburban areas.
Nesting - The nest is a cup of plant down and spider web, covered with flakes of lichen, on a branch 5-20 feet above the ground.
Eggs - 2, white. Incubation about 20 days, by the female.
Food - Nectar and pollen from flowers; also small insects taken from flowers and spider webs.
Indigo Bunting (male)

Size - 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 inches long
Habitat - Bushy pastures and woodland edges.
Nesting - The nest is a well made cup of grass, leaves, bark strips, and paper, 3-15 feet above the ground in a bush, small tree, or a clump of weeds.
Eggs - 3 to 6, bluish, unmarked. Incubation 13 days, by female. Young leave the nest in 8-10 days.
Food - Seeds, berries, and insects.
Indigo Bunting

Size - 7 - 8 1/2 inches long
Habitat - Open woodlands and shade trees.
Nesting - The nest is a hanging pouch of plant fibers and string, 6-90 feet above the ground.
Eggs - 3 to 6, pale blue, scrawled with black and gray. Incubation 12 - 14 days, by female. Leave the nest 2 weeks after hatching.
Food - Insects and fruit.
