Red-winged Blackbird Red-winged Blackbird (M)

Size - 7 - 9 1/2 inches long
Habitat - Marshes and grasslands.
Nesting - The nest is a cup of grass, lashed to reeds or a small bush.
Eggs - 3 to 5, pale blue marked with zigzag lines or brown or blackish. Incubation about 12 days, by female. Young leave the nest 10-13 days after hatching.
Food - Seeds, grain, insects, and spiders.

Size - 7 - 9 1/2 inches long
Habitat - Marshes and grasslands.
Nesting - The nest is a cup of grass, lashed to reeds or a small bush.

Killdeer Killdeer

Size - 9 - 11 inches long.
Habitat - Pastures, plowed fields, riverbanks, mud flats, and airports.
Nesting - The nest is a scape in the ground, lined with bits of grass, pebbles, and stems.
Eggs - 3 to 5, buff, spotted with brown. Incubation 24 to 28 days, by both sexes. Young leave the nest soon after hatching; become independent at 25 days.
Food - Mainly insects, earthworms, and snails.
Eastern Kingbird

Size - 8 - 9 inches long.
Habitat - Roadsides, woodland edges, orchards, and open country with scattered trees.
Nesting - The nest is a large cup of twigs, stems, and grass, up to 60 feet above the ground in a tree or stump in water.
Eggs - 3 to 5, white or pinkish, heavily spotted with brown. Incubation 13 days, by both sexes. Young leave the nest 14 days after hatching.
Food - Insects captured in flight; also a few berries and seeds.
